Sadie Rogers is Chicago-based filmmaker, screenwriter, actor, and musician. She makes films that focus on metaphor through experimental glimpses into fantasy, sci-fi, and horror worlds parallel to our own. Her short films are innovative and ambitious and have had a successful string of festival runs, including Palms Springs International ShortsFest, Sun Valley Film Festival, Bend Film Festival, Cucalorus Film Festival, Sidewalk Film Festival, Sarasota Film Festival, and many others. Her comedy/drama short RPG now lives on Shortoftheweek (33K+ views), and her recent Science Fiction short HOW IS THIS THE WORLD won Best Female Director at Mint Film Festival and Best of the Festival at Dayton Independent Film Festival and received digital distribution on the Dust Channel (255K+views). Her screenplay Heart of the Trepid has been a semifinalist in the Screencraft Film Fund competition in both 2020 and 2021 and went on to become a semifinalist for the Lynn Shelton “Woman of a Certain Age” grant. Her screenplay THE HOLLER made it to the second round of consideration for Sundance Film Labs in 2025.
Sadie is a SAG/AFTRA union performer working in theater, film, and television. Her most recent acting credits include Frank V. Ross’ film ARBITRARY CORNERS, Michael Smith’s film HEKLA, and a cameo in Stephen Cone’s A SYSTEM OF COLORS.
She fronts a local band, Sadie and the stark, a gothic hybrid of Americana folk and sometimes rock. Their album Devil in the Sky has just been released, made in part by an Individual Artists Grant with the Chicago Department of Cultural Events.
Sadie is owner and head game runner for Arcane Kobold Games, a small business running table top role playing games (Dungeons and Dragons) both online and in-person, specializing in niche and crafted world building games for youth and young adults of all backgrounds.
When Sadie is not working, she likes to read, sing dark folk music to her dog, and play, rather than run, some Dungeons and Dragons. Her current character is a War Forged Artificer Reanimator named Kremlin the Gremlin with a soul trapping mirror and a gusto for creature body parts to sew together.
